Haslington and its surrounding area are mainly used for farming, with a focus on arable land and some dairy farming. The land varies from peat in the east to clay in the west. Notable areas of peat include White Moss and Oakhanger Moss, the latter designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The parish of Haslington boasts 110 miles of hedges, 10,000 trees, and 60 public paths.
The original Haslington Hall, which predates the current one, was built around 1220 and was initially moated. Over time, the moat and the hall deteriorated, and the moat turned into a mere, which was filled in during the 20th century. The mere was located near Mere Street, off Crewe Road. Winterley, a village within Haslington’s parish, is home to Winterley Pool, a small lake situated along Crewe Road.
Areas of land in Haslington, Crewe Green, and Crewe are owned by the Duchy of Lancaster, a royal duchy that provides income to the monarch; currently, the Duke of Lancaster is Charles III.
Haslington is located 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast of Crewe and 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Sandbach. The original route from Crewe to Sandbach passed directly through the village until the construction of a bypass (A534) to the northwest. The village is well-connected through bus routes to Crewe, Northwich, Macclesfield, and Hanley.
Residents also have access to Crewe railway station, offering frequent train services to cities such as Manchester and London. Additionally, Haslington is in close proximity to the M6 motorway, with junctions 16 and 17 serving Crewe and Sandbach, respectively. A small section of the motorway passes through a sparsely-populated area of the parish to the far east near its border. With its various transportation connections, Haslington is considered a dormitory village.
